Layout Making--
The Layout is divided into two levels-
Level 1- this comprises of the outer layout of the pages, and the main motive here is to create templates which can be altered later according to the themes and types of articles submitted by the editorial team.
Goals-
1) Defining the proper workspace
2) Defining space for the regular entities on the page-
a) page number
b) category or chapter
c) the edition of the magazine(if required)
d) the logo of the magazine(if required)
3) Calculating the workspace area in terms of max characters-
the technique for doing this is, create a text box which covers the whole workspace, type in all 'w' in the text box. Find the max number of 'w' fitting in. This number is the required max character limit. (NOTE- this limit will change as we starting working in the workspace, but it'll make working in the workspace easier.)
4) Keeping track of the-
a) margins
b) colors used in hexadecimal codes
c) co-ordinates of each element used on the page
d) font color used for various text on the page
e) point size used for various text on the page
f) resolution, size and coordinates of the images used
Level 2- this level will consist of everything done inside the workspace defined by the level1 layouts.
Students will be assigned articles and pages later to work on the inner workspace.
Team members are requested to submit three(3) such templates to itsmylife2007.gaurav@gmail.com by this Sunday, 11th Oct 2009.
The measurements can be submitted as a notepad file. Also send all the images used.
